Why study in Australia?

In Australia there are 10 qualification types from Certificate Level to the Doctorate Level in the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF).
7 of these qualification types are available through the Australian Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector. The other qualifications are available through the University education system. In the AQF framework level 1 is the least difficult in terms of learning outcomes and requirements, and level 10 is the most complex and highest level of qualification someone can receive in Australia.
Vocational Education and Training (VET)
VET covers all vocational training in Australia. TAFE (Technical and Further Education) institutes run by the government and institutions run by private businesses provide VET courses. Whether you are transitioning from school or the workplace, beginning university study can be a big step. TAFE offers a staged approach to learning, making your move to university easy. After completing a TAFE course, you can receive credit towards your degree and save time at University.
There is no need to panic if you are not satisfying the requirements to enrol for a Bachelor's degree at a university. TAFE courses can be the perfect pathway to University. You can start with a TAFE course at Certificate level and work towards your University degree course.
For an example, a student can enrol for a Certificate course and progress towards a Diploma or an Advanced Diploma. The student is then eligible to enrol for a bachelor's degree at a University.
What is the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF)?
The AQF is the national policy for regulated qualifications in Australian education and training. Delivered through the Australian Government Department of Education, Skills and Employment in consultation with the states and territories, it incorporates the qualifications from each education and training sector (schools, vocational and higher education) into a single comprehensive national qualifications framework.
One of the key objectives of the AQF is to facilitate pathways to, and through, formal qualifications. It also complements national regulatory and quality assurance arrangements for education and training.
The AQF is split into 1O levels, ranging from certificate 1, all the way through to Doctoral degree, with higher education awards including levels 5-10. For more information on the individual AQF levels, visit the AQF's qualifications web page.
